Charles L. Priefert, 75 of Pepin, WI, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Wabasha, following a long term illness and complications from exposure to Agent Orange.

Charles LaVern was born December 17, 1943, in Waterville Twp, Pepin County, WI to LaVern and Virgie (Schofield) Priefert. He graduated from Pepin High School and also attended technical college in Minneapolis. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in June 1967.

On September 11, 1965, he married Penny A. Roemer in Wabasha, MN. He was a beekeeper and a timber buyer for Brunkow Hardwood, Nelson, WI. Charles and Penny owned and operated the Lady Slipper Gift Shop in Pepin for many years. He was a member of the Pepin Sportsman Club; Ducks Unlimited, Durand, WI; and was the Town of Pepin Treasure for many years. He loved the outdoors, his apple trees, telling jokes and above all, he loved his two grandsons John and Jack, more than anything in the world. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, until he was no longer able. One of his main pleasures was spending time at the cabin with his family. His spirits were always high and he maintained a positive attitude, even through his illness.

He is survived by his wife Penny; daughter Tanya (Brian) Juliot, Pepin; two grandsons: John and Jack; two sisters, both of Pepin; and Pennys siblings and their spouses.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
