Harold Holtzman

Harold Sam Holtzman, 91 of Wabasha and formerly of Alma, WI, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Gundersen-Saint Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha.

Harold was born June 10, 1929, in Alma to Samuel and Elsina (Giertz) Holtzman. He graduated from Alma High School. On December 27, 1950, he married Mildred Balow at Saint Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, and they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary last month. Together they raised two children: Jan and Steve.

Harold worked for Buffalo Electric Cooperative, Alma for 39 years, retiring on January 17, 1992. He was a groundsman/lineman during his career. He served in the US Army from 1951-1956 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Sam especially enjoyed fishing and cribbage games with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Millie; a daughter Jan (Ken) Hager, Eagan, MN; a son Steve (Deb) Holtzman, Rosemount, MN; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Jason) Johnson; Michael Hager; Allison (Matt) Gerald; and Samantha (Cory) Keepers; seven great grandchildren: Julia, Zachary, and Jayce Johnson; Kayla Hager Andersen; Levi Wilson; Hope and Noah Keepers; step-grandchildren Kay (Carl) Villella and Scott Pavel; step-great grandchildren Rory and Bodi Villella two brothers: Robert Holtzman, Alabama and Gary (Bonnie) Holtzman, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Harris Holtzman.
